I can't take my eyes from this. I like how the figure (of Ophelia) is almost camouflaged yet provide an almost sinister contrast to the vibrant autumnal colours.
a few of the PRB (Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood) did several versions of Ophelia. my favourite is by John Everett Millias. the Lady of Shalott was another favourite subject of theirs. The were the guys that invented ultra realism in painting. They were heaviliy criticised in their day. Christ in the house of his parents my Millais was considered blasphamous in its day as it depicted christ as being too real?
I know nothing of any of these "topics".. except, Lady of Shalott, that may be one I'm familiar wit. But it's now the time of the day when it's all downhill. . I'm leaving this in my notice box, and will try to take a more in-depth look tomorrow.
