Ophelia by analillithbar Ophelia by analillithbar
Acrylic on 14 x 17 canvas board.

Hamlet is one of my very favorite plays. But, when it comes to Shakespeare, it is his sonnets I love most. :iconomgsocuteplz:

I can't take my eyes from this. I like how the figure (of Ophelia) is almost camouflaged yet provide an almost sinister contrast to the vibrant autumnal colours.

a few of the PRB (Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood) did several versions of Ophelia. my favourite is by John Everett Millias. the Lady of Shalott was another favourite subject of theirs. The were the guys that invented ultra realism in painting. They were heaviliy criticised in their day. Christ in the house of his parents my Millais was considered blasphamous in its day as it depicted christ as being too real? :)

This is wonderful information.

I know nothing of any of these "topics".. except, Lady of Shalott, that may be one I'm familiar wit. But it's now the time of the day when it's all downhill. :icondownhillplz: :giggle:. I'm leaving this in my notice box, and will try to take a more in-depth look tomorrow.

Thanks for the intelligent conversation. ;)

Have a great and inspired day.

I like it. I am a fan of Shakespeare's Othello. My favorite work from him.

The thing I loved most about Othello is the inter-racial theme. People think things are "brand new" without looking to history to find we are a viscious cycle. ;)

Me too. That is the story that I love to read over and over. The times have not changed like they should. Too many ignortant minds and too many jealous souls.

I think ignorance and jealousy are advocated by our 21st century social media... people just do not feel the need to be nice. But then, get so upset when they are the focus of someone else doing to them when they do to others. Really, it's just sad. I've found myself lately being the same evil way... Hence, I have cut my contacts down to a bare minimum. I am hoping to just find my inner :meditate: and :excited: without belittling others to maintain that sense of :iconomgsocuteplz:. Wish me luck. You will and you can. I hope that I can still be one of those you keep in touch with. I love the spirit you possess. I love the talent you have crafted and continue to take to new heights

I know what you say cause I have caught that in me too. I only want peace and happiness. That is how you want to live and enjoy this world. I want to share through my work all that I can to make people smile.

Exactly, art and sharing are the only thing that matters. And, I recognize, happiness is inside, not brought about by exterior stimuli. ;)

Stay inspired.
